My Beautiful Sister, Paige, singing at her Christmas Choir Concert. I hope you all "Have yourself a Merry little Christmas"

(I apologize for the large spotlight washing out her face, but you can still hear her beautiful voice)

We have been busy at the Buzzell house! Ben is talking all day long. I keep meaning to count how many words he has because the Pediatrician asked at his last appointment, but I forget to write them down. Some of the common ones are:

Tucker
Chloe
Raja
Maggie
Mom
Daddy
Baby
Car
Choo-Choo
Keys
More
Please
Thank You
Apple
Pizza
Milk
Cow
Kitty
Doggie
Owl
Poo-Poo
Pee-Pee
Bath
Socks
Shoe(s)
Potty
One
Two
Three

There are so many more that I'm not thinking of right now. He has also started signing with some words which is so cute. The only signs he does right now are "please", "More", and "Thank you"

He loves having his cousin here as evidence by this video:

Charlotte is doing well. She is growing and learning to smile and coo. Amanda found out a couple weeks ago that she has hip dysplasia, which we found out is especially common in first born girls who are breech (she is all of those). It is a mild case, but because she fit into that category they did an ultrasound and found out that her hip sockets are weak and if it isn't corrected now it could lead to troubles walking and need surgery or casts later in life. The orthopedic specialists at DeVos Children's Hospital put her in a harness that keeps her legs in the frog position so that the hips will stay in the joint and get stronger.

Here is another video of our precious Charlotte smiling for her Mommy:

Welcome Charlotte Marie Lindemulder
September 3rd, 2010

We are so excited to have Amanda, Keith, and Baby Charlotte home now. She is such a beautiful baby and is being admired day and night by her loving parents. Amanda is a natural mother and is so patient with her. I often catch Keith walking around outside with Charlotte bundled to his chest just enjoying the outdoors. I am so proud of both of them.

Peter and I are thrilled to be an Aunt and Uncle and try to help with Charlotte whenever we can, whether it be holding her while Mom showers or cooking dinner for the new parents when they are busy tending to the little one.

Ben is IN LOVE with his baby cousin. Whenever she comes up stairs he says "baby" and runs to the gate to see her. He gets really close to her, plays with her toes, and says "hi" in the sweetest voice. It's so funny how even babies talk a little higher to babies.

Ben has such a sweet personality. He is really showing his caring, loving side with Charlotte here:

I have to admit that I enjoy reading my horoscope. I am always surprised by how accurate they are. Something about how the stars and planets align when you are born sets a baseline personality that your parents and experiences molded into the adult you are today.

I have never really talked about my parenting style here, but I don't believe in all the parenting fads (Dr. Sears, Ferber, etc). I think that some of the ideas are helpful and work well with certain babies, but all babies/children are different. I take more of a trial and error approach with parenting and so far so good! Ben eats well, sleeps through the night, and naps well. He is walking, talking, loves to read, play, and is (for the most part) well behaved.

I found a baby horoscope that so perfectly describes Ben that I have to share it with you all.

About the Aries Child

A Natural-Born Leader

If your Aries son or daughter was born ahead of schedule, it should come as no surprise: Aries children are always pushing ahead of the pack. With an "Are we there yet?" outlook, they are impatient to arrive and get started already! Ben was 2 weeks early

Aries children possess a passionate, creative, and restless nature. They seem to have more energy than other children, with a vitality that's matched only by their natural bravery. Their "me first" attitude can be a challenge for anyone who has to contend with their high spirits and frequent self-absorption. Ben thinks he is the center of attention ALWAYS and is Fearless!

Legendary for their straightforward honesty, Aries children tell it like they see it. They can overstep boundaries because they're naturally impulsive and tend not to look before they leap.

As the parent of a young Aries, you're probably no stranger to epic temper tantrums. Yes, Aries children have a hard time keeping their emotions under control, but there's a positive side to this: They don't hold a grudge. Once the fireworks are over, so is their anger. Ben can get so angry and throw himself on the floor, but in a moment will be laughing an happy as can be.

Since Aries children are great at starting grand projects but not as keen on sticking with them, you'll need to be patient as you guide your child gently but firmly, helping her stay on track.

Also make sure she gets plenty of exercise. Any vigorous activity will be an excellent outlet for her energy, and if it's a competitive sport, so much the better. But be sure she wears a helmet or any other essential safety gear. In their eternal hurry, Aries children tend to be accident-prone. Ben is Go Go Go. He goes stir crazy if we stay home all day long. We often go to the store or park just to get out of the house.

Look at what your child's horoscope is! http://www.babycenter.com/horoscopes

Touching Video

I have to share this video with you all. I found it while reading through blogs during Ben's nap. It is a long video but I cried through the entire thing. It is so touching to watch these soldiers come home and see the love that they have waiting for them. I am so thankful for all the soldiers out there that are fighting to protect our country and at the same time I feel so blessed that my family is here with me everyday. I see the way Benjamin lights up every night when Peter gets home from work and I can't imagine him having to go away for months at a time.

My favorite is the little girl sitting on Santa's lap that tells her daddy that she missed him and loves him. What a darling little girl.

The birth of my iphone:

I have a new iphone! Some may think I'm lucky, but let me tell you what led up to the birth of my iphone. A little over a week ago my darling boy tossed my cell phone into the toilet (one of many things that has bathed in the porcelain throne). I didn't even know that he did it until Peter went to use the bathroom and called out to me "Hey did you know your phone is in the toilet?" I had been waiting for my contract with Altell (Verizon) to expire in november. I didn't want to invest in a new phone so I transferred my current phone number to Peter's old cell phone that Ben plays with as a toy. This worked great for about 4 days. Then one morning the speaker started acting up. I was trying to call people to make plans for the weekend and nobody could hear me! Mind you this phone is about 6 years old. I was so frustrated and my temper got the best of me. Somehow the phone fell out of my hand...with quite some force....and broke in half! Dunzo.

I ventured to the Verizon store and they told me that the only way I could use my phone insurance was if I signed a new 2 year contract with verizon. What was a girl to do? Over to the AT&T store I went and bought myself a new phone.

The good news is that now I can blog from my cell phone!

Lots of Pics and Posts to come,
Sarah

Wow! It has been way too long. So sorry.

It was a very long winter. Flu season hit the hospital hard this year and we were busy. Peter has been very busy at work too. They have been short staffed for a while. It seems like as soon as they hire someone new, someone else leaves. Unfortunately, Peter is the only one who does his job so he works almost every day.

Ben is getting so big! Everyday he does something new and I love him a little bit more. Not to say that he hasn't been testing my patience. As soon as that boy learned to walk he became a trouble maker. He is into EVERYTHING!!! As soon as I get him out of the dishwasher he's into the dog food, then once I get the dog food picked up he has pulled my bag off the table and emptied it!

Ben loves to talk, talk, talk. Every once in a while he says something we can understand, but its usually just jibberish. His favorite activities these days are reading books, playing outside, and taking baths.

As most of you know, Peter and I have been blessed to not have to put Ben in daycare. We have such a supportive family that we have never had to leave Ben with anyone other than family. Don't get me wrong, its not that daycares are bad, but I can't bring myself to pay a stranger to spend the day with my son when I would rather be with him myself. Our primary babysitters have been my sister's Amanda and Stacey. Both of them, however, found new jobs at the beginning of June. Stacey is nannying for a family in Ada and Amanda moved from evening shift to day shift. We are very happy for both of them. Luckily, Tami just graduated from high school and Paige is off for the summer! It's funny how things just work out. We are so blessed.

What some of you don't know, is that starting the 3rd week of July I am going to part-time and we won't need babysitters as often! I am so happy that I have the opportunity to be able to stay home with Ben more.

Again, I am sorry that I have been away for so long. I am hoping to blog more often.

I am leaving you with a video of Ben playing in the street fountain in Holland last week. Adorable!

Walking around like he owns the place

The video pretty much sums up what Ben has been up to for about the last week or two. Once he found out how efficient and effective walking could be there was really no stopping him. I think the sunshine motivated him to get walking so he could start playing outside.
